ASTM D618: Standard Practice for Conditioning Plastics for Testing

In general, the mechanical properties of plastics are influenced by temperature and relative humanity. In order to guarantee reliable comparisons between different materials, it is necessary to standardize the environmental conditions. This practice defines procedures for conditioning plastics (although not necessarily to equilibrium) prior to testing and the conditions under which they shall be tested.
