ISO 7206-1: Implants for surgery — Partial and total hip joint prostheses — Part 1: Classification and designation of dimensions

This standard was initially intended to provide a simple classification of hip joint implants. In the meantime, a number of other designs have appeared on the market, and the standard is currently under revision. The more advanced standards, such as ISO 7206-4 and -6, should also be considered for the geometry definitions.
