What is FEA?

FEA, or Finite Element Analysis, is a computational technique used to predict how a product or structure will perform under real-world conditions. It does this by breaking down an object into a mesh of small and simple elements and analyse their behaviour.

Which medical devices can be analysed in FEA?

All of them, we are willing to do anything!

Can FEA help with submissions?

Yes, for example FEA can serve as a rational for the selection of the worst-case.
Additionally, advanced simulations with rigorous V&V (Verification & Validation) activities can also be used to support regulatory submissions.

Are there any international standards for FEA?

Yes, ASME V&V40, ASTM F2996, ASTM F3161, and ASTM F3334.
