Wear testing of total hip replacements, performed under the test conditions of ISO 14242-1, simulates level walking of a perfectly implanted device. In reality, there are a number of parameter such as aging, subluxation, high inclination angles, corrosion and third body contamination that might impact the wear behavior of a total hip replacement. EndoLab® has developed a battery of test protocols that focus on individual test conditions or combine multiple adverse conditions for worst case analysis.
