{"id":3043,"date":"2024-09-05T15:23:51","date_gmt":"2024-09-05T13:23:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/endolab.org\/?post_type=knee-implants&#038;p=3043"},"modified":"2025-12-03T14:08:44","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T13:08:44","slug":"pi-53","status":"publish","type":"knee-implants","link":"https:\/\/endolab.org\/de\/knee-implants\/pi-53\/","title":{"rendered":"PI-53"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>PI-53:&nbsp;<\/strong>Fatigue testing of stemmed femoral TKA components<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of the test described in this internal test procedure is to determine the mechanical strength of stemmed femoral TKA components loaded under assumed worst-case conditions.<br>The femoral component and the stem are assembled according to the customer\u00b4s instructions and tightened with a torque wrench (if required).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The load must be applied at an angle of 25\u00b0 to the neutral position of the femoral component as indicated by <em>Heinlein<\/em>. This simulates a slightly flexed knee position. A varus malalignment is simulated at a 5\u00b0 inclination. This alignment leads to loading the medial condyle only.<br>The suggested embedding level of the stem is 80 mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A load of 2 000\u00a0N (R=1\/10) at a rate of 5 to 10 Hz is suggested to be used for the dynamic tests.
